Standard Rigby Dental Exams

For whatever reason you have for avoiding the dentist, stop for a second and chew on this: beautiful pearly whites require regular maintenance. We find that patients who receive a standard check-up every six months stay a step ahead of a potential root canal, periodontal disease, or worse.

Here’s what you can expect during your check-up:

Digital X-Rays

Rigby Dental Exams and X-RaysX-rays give us the behind the scenes look at bone health, tooth decay, as well as tooth and root alignment. We also appreciate that they bring to light more serious conditions like cysts or tumors.

If you tend to worry about radiation exposure, rest assured! Our digital x-rays have dropped radiation exposure by 90% reduction.

Teeth Cleaning

You’d heard of plaque before, that invisible film of saliva and bacteria that forms on your teeth. Regular brushing is important to keep it at bay, but professional dental cleaning takes you two steps closer to good health. Untreated plaque advances into a hardened tooth-clinging bacteria-fest called calculus (which is about as fun as its advanced math cousin). When calculus persist on your teeth, they can inflame your gums. Inflammation of the gums, or gingivitis, is the start of periodontal disease! Trust us when we say, you don’t want to go there.

Of course not everyone with plaque will get periodontal disease, but our cleaning services topped off with a good-old fashioned tooth polishing will leave your smile both beautiful and healthy.

Rigby Dental ExamsWhat Next?

That covers the standard Rigby dental exams. After the x-rays and Dr. Mikesell’s manual survey, we can discuss any further treatments that are recommended. Dr. Mikesell is happy to discuss any risks and recommendations so that you can create a co-diagnosis together that will work towards a winning smile.
